{"id":18557,"date":"2023-06-22T14:23:01","date_gmt":"2023-06-22T09:53:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kabul-24.com\/en\/?p=18557"},"modified":"2023-06-22T14:23:01","modified_gmt":"2023-06-22T09:53:01","slug":"international-olympic-committee-we-are-very-concerned-about-the-talibans-restrictions-on-womens-and-girls-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kabul-24.com\/en\/international-olympic-committee-we-are-very-concerned-about-the-talibans-restrictions-on-womens-and-girls-sports\/","title":{"rendered":"International Olympic Committee: We are &#8220;very concerned&#8221; about the Taliban&#8217;s restrictions on women&#8217;s and girls&#8217; sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>The International Olympics Committee (IOC) has said it is \u201cextremely concerned\u201d by the Taliban\u2019s restrictions on women and girls\u2019 sport.<\/h6>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/Www.kabul_24.com\"><strong>Kabul24<\/strong><\/a>: The IOC\u2019s Executive Board met on Wednesday to discuss the situation in Afghanistan, reiterating its call for the Taliban to reverse restrictions imposed on women and girls participating in sporting activities.<\/p>\n<p>The group\u2019s restrictions, the IOC said, are \u201ccontrary to the Olympic values of non-discrimination, inclusion and respect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Olympic Games\u2019 governing body said that the Taliban had refused to reverse restrictions on women and girls\u2019 sport \u201cdespite the repeated calls from the IOC\u201d, urging Afghanistan\u2019s National Olympics Committee and the Directorate of Physical Education and Sport to \u201cdrastically strengthen and accelerate their efforts with the highest authorities in the country, and expects to see significant progress and concrete results at all levels in the very near future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The IOC said it has not decided on Afghanistan\u2019s participation in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, and any action on that regard will be made after the Asian Games.<\/p>\n<p>The Taliban\u2019s restrictions on women and girls\u2019 sport forced many sportswomen to leave Afghanistan, including the women\u2019s football and cricket teams.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, a group of over a 100 parliamentarians from the UK, <a href=\"https:\/\/kabul-24.com\/en\/the-australian-senator-called-for-an-investigation-by-the-international-criminal-court-on-the-countrys-war-crimes-in-afghanistan\/\">Australia<\/a>, Portugal and Italy wrote to Fifa president, Gianni Infantino, urging him to do more to support exiled Afghan female footballers<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The International Olympics Committee (IOC) has said it is \u201cextremely concerned\u201d by the Taliban\u2019s restrictions on women and girls\u2019 sport.
