Amnesty International has reiterated that erasing women and girls from public life is a crime against humanity for which the Taliban must be held accountable.<\/h6>\n

Kabul24<\/strong><\/a>: In a tweet on Saturday, the organization highlighted that Afghanistan\u2019s women and girls have been stripped of their basic rights and freedoms, with their exclusion from public and political spheres.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are silenced, their aspirations shattered, and their access to education and professional growth forcibly taken away.<\/p>\n

Constrained in their movements and choices, they are confined to the shadows,\u201d Amnesty International wrote, noting that any act of defiance is met with brutality and violence.<\/p>\n

The organization further stated that arbitrary detentions, torture, and the blatant disregard for their fundamental human rights have become \u201cthe order of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe actions of the Taliban may amount to crimes against humanity. The international community must rise to the occasion and take action,\u201d Amnesty International asserted. \u201cJustice and accountability must prevail.<\/p>\n

Afghan women and girls deserve better. They deserve justice. They deserve equality. They should not be persecuted based on their gender\u201d the organization emphasized.<\/p>\n

In a joint report released in May, Amnesty International and the International Commission of Jurists emphasized that the Taliban\u2019s<\/a> treatment of women and girls should be investigated as a possible crime against humanity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
