The United Nations Population Fund says that, based on this organization’s estimate, around 7,500 pregnant women have been affected by the recent earthquakes in Herat.<\/h5>\n

Kabul 24<\/a>: This fund published a report today (Sunday, 30 Mizan) and said that it has sent eight mobile medical teams to Herat to support pregnant women and other victims of the earthquake disaster.<\/p>\n

The United Nations Population Fund report states that the need for assistance in the field is still high.<\/p>\n

According to this report, in some areas of Herat, all the houses have been razed to the ground due to these tremors and many<\/a> displaced people have temporarily taken shelter in tents and abandoned buildings.<\/p>\n

Jamie Nadal, UNFPA representative for Afghanistan, said that many women have lost everything.<\/p>\n

He added that UNFPA is trying to ensure that pregnant women receive appropriate reproductive health care services.<\/p>\n

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale shook Zindajan district and several other districts of Herat on Saturday. During these two weeks, several other earthquakes and aftershocks have shaken Herat.<\/p>\n

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says assessments completed to date show that more than 21,500 homes have been completely destroyed.<\/p>\n

According to Ocha, about 154,000 people have been affected by the recent earthquake.<\/p>\n

Statistics show that after the earthquake in Herat, more than 2,445 people died and 2,440 people were injured.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
