Kabul 24: According to a Bangladesh Fire Service official, the incident took place in the early hours of the morning, with the aircraft colliding with the roof of the university’s dining hall. The Public Relations Office of the Bangladesh Army confirmed the crash in a statement, noting that the aircraft had taken off at 1:06 AM local time.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, with authorities yet to determine whether it was due to technical failure, human error, or other factors. Emergency response teams and security forces were promptly dispatched to the scene to conduct rescue operations and manage the crisis.

Footage from the site showed thick smoke and flames rising from the crash location.Medical sources reported that over 50 individuals, including several children, sustained severe burn injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals. Some of the injured are in critical condition, raising concerns that the death toll may rise.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as students and staff fled the university dining hall during the incident. The local newspaper Prothom Alo reported that initial findings suggest the aircraft struck the dining hall’s roof, causing significant structural damage. University authorities have suspended all academic activities until further notice to allow for safety assessments. The crash has reignited concerns about the safety standards of military training flights and aircraft maintenance in Bangladesh.

The local community and students are demanding transparency from authorities and measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
