Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, announced that the second phase of the Qosh Tepa Canal, one of Afghanistan\u2019s largest agricultural projects, will be completed within the next five months.<\/h6>\n

Kabul 24<\/strong><\/a>: He added that the first phase was finalized last year, and the third phase will commence soon.<\/p>\n

Mujahid emphasized the Islamic Emirate\u2019s commitment to implementing national economic projects for the country\u2019s development.<\/p>\n

Officials from the National Development Company, responsible for executing this major project, reported significant progress in constructing the main dam and the second phase.<\/p>\n

They aim to complete this phase ahead of schedule. The Qosh Tepa Canal, stretching 285 kilometers with a width of 108 meters and a depth of 8.5 meters, is one of the region\u2019s largest water transfer canals.<\/p>\n

It has the capacity to transfer 650 cubic meters of water<\/a> per second, annually delivering approximately 20.5 billion cubic meters of water from the Amu River to irrigate Afghanistan\u2019s plains.<\/p>\n

Extending from Kaldar district in Balkh to Andkhoy district in Faryab, this canal will irrigate 550,000 hectares of land, bringing a transformative impact on Afghanistan\u2019s agricultural economy.<\/p>\n

Local farmers and residents eagerly await its benefits and have urged the Islamic Emirate to expedite the project\u2019s completion.<\/p>\n

One farmer stated, \u201cWe ask the government to finish the canal quickly so our lands can be irrigated, and we can increase our harvests.\u201dThe Qosh Tepa Canal will not only enhance agricultural productivity but also create job opportunities and bolster the local economy, playing a vital role in the country\u2019s sustainable development.<\/p>\n

The Islamic Emirate and the National Development Company are diligently working to fulfill their promises for the people\u2019s prosperity and economic progress.<\/p>\n
