Kabul \u2013 The Special Court for Addressing Cases of Seized Lands announced on Sunday (April 26, 2026) that more than 1,500 jeribs of land known as \u201cShahrak-e Omid Sabz\u201d (Omid Sabz Township or Green Hope Township) in western Kabul has been officially recognized as property of the Islamic Emirate.<\/h6>\n

Kabul 24<\/a>: According to a statement from the Ministry of Justice, the exact area of the land is 1,507.49 jeribs, located in Districts 6 and 13 of Kabul city. The case was referred to the Special Court by the Commission for Prevention of Land Grabbing and Restitution of Seized Lands after an initial review, in accordance with Article 17 of the Law on Prevention of Land Grabbing.<\/p>\n

Following a thorough examination of documents and evidence submitted by the occupants, property registries, and inquiries from relevant government departments, the court determined that the entire land\u2014divided into five cadastral plots\u2014was registered and surveyed in the name of the state.<\/p>\n

No legal transfer to any natural or legal persons had taken place.In its final ruling, the Special Court declared that all 1,507.49 jeribs belong to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.<\/p>\n

The land must now be handed over to the Commission for Prevention of Land Grabbing and Restitution of Seized Lands for the process of recovery and restitution to proceed.<\/p>\n

This decision forms part of the Islamic Emirate\u2019s broader campaign to reclaim lands it considers illegally seized across the country. Officials emphasize that these measures aim to protect state assets, prevent unlawful occupation, and ensure justice in land management.<\/p>\n

Omid Sabz Township, situated in a scenic elevated area of western Kabul, was previously promoted as a residential development project. Over the years, portions of the land had reportedly been occupied or transacted by various individuals and entities.<\/p>\n

However, technical and legal reviews confirmed the absence of any valid documentation transferring ownership from the government to private parties.<\/p>\n

The ruling is expected to have significant implications for current occupants and potential investors in the area. The Commission has stated that it will promptly initiate the legal restitution process once the land is formally transferred.<\/p>\n

In recent months, the Islamic Emirate<\/a> has issued similar rulings for hundreds of thousands of jeribs of seized land in various provinces, highlighting the high priority given to combating land grabbing.<\/p>\n

Authorities hope these decisions will help preserve public property and create opportunities for its use in public welfare and development projects.<\/p>\n
