kabul 24<\/a>: Harish Paruvataneni, India\u2019s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, made the sharp remarks during an annual UN Security Council meeting on the \u201cProtection of Civilians in Armed Conflict.\u201d Citing reports from UNAMA (United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan), he stated that Pakistani airstrikes in the first three months of this year alone resulted in 750 civilian casualties in Afghanistan.<\/p>\nParuvataneni particularly condemned the \u201cbrutal\u201d Pakistani airstrike on the \u201cOmid\u201d drug rehabilitation hospital in Kabul during the holy month of Ramadan.<\/p>\n
He highlighted that the attack occurred immediately after Tarawih prayers, when, according to UNAMA, a large number of patients and civilians were leaving the adjacent mosque.\u201cThis is the height of hypocrisy,\u201d the Indian envoy said. \u201cA country that speaks of lofty principles of international law bombs innocent civilians under the cover of darkness.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that Pakistan has consistently ignored international calls to protect civilians.<\/p>\n
