The Royal Navy of Oman announced in an official statement on the X platform that it has completed an emergency rescue operation for 16 crew members aboard a Saudi-flagged oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.<\/h6>\n

Kabul 24<\/a>: The vessel, identified as the SIDR and operated by the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia, was struck by an airborne projectile approximately two nautical miles northwest of Oman’s Musandam Governorate.<\/p>\n

According to the Maritime Security Center of Oman, a naval vessel was dispatched to the scene to render logistical support to the 25 total crew members onboard. Navy personnel successfully evacuated 16 mariners and provided immediate medical care.<\/p>\n

While Omani authorities offered no further details on the remaining personnel, previous reports confirmed that two Filipino crew members were killed during the attack.<\/p>\n

The incident comes amid a sharp escalation in regional military strikes between the United States and Iran. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the attack, explicitly attributing responsibility to Iranian forces. Conversely, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy claimed it targeted three tankers traversing “unauthorized routes” in the Strait of Hormuz<\/a>, alongside three US-affiliated vessels elsewhere.<\/p>\n

The IRGC stated the move was executed in retaliation for earlier actions by US Central Command (CENTCOM), which reported targeting three Iranian oil tankers after ballistic missiles were fired toward US naval warships patrolling regional waters.<\/p>\n
