Outbreak Alert: 13 Suspected Cases of Chicken Pox Reported in Panjshir
Kabul24: At least 13 suspected cases of chicken pox have been reported in Panjshir province, according to local authorities of the Taliban.
The Department of Information and Culture under the management of the Taliban released a statement, quoting Ghulam Ishan Hamas, the head of education of the group.
The tweet revealed that the infected with this virus are students of a religious school.
The Spread of the Virus
Hamas also stated that the chicken pox virus outbreak happened in Noor Abdara religious school, located in Annaba district of Panjshir.
The health team of Panjshir Public Health Directorate has taken swift action and closed the religious school to prevent further spread of this virus. Chicken pox is one of the viruses caused by infection with varicella zoster virus (VZV). This viral disease causes a skin rash that starts with small, itchy blisters that eventually turn into pimples.
The Concerns
Chicken pox is common and most people recover within two to four weeks. However, it is a contagious disease, and people who have not previously been vaccinated or experienced the virus are at risk of infection. Itching is one of the early symptoms of this virus.
In some rare cases, it can cause severe complications, especially in adults. The situation in Panjshir province is being closely monitored, and local authorities are taking the necessary measures to prevent the further spread of this disease.
Precautions and Vaccination
The best way to prevent chicken pox is by vaccination. The World Health Organization recommends vaccinating children at an early age to help prevent severe cases of the disease.
It is also important to maintain proper hygiene, especially during outbreaks, to avoid the spread of the disease. Anyone experiencing symptoms of chicken pox, including itching and a skin rash, should seek medical attention immediately and take precautions to avoid contact with others.
