News Muttaqi: Afghanistan Has Transformed into a Stable Country in the Region After Decades of InstabilityKabul – Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, stated during a sports event in Kabul that Afghanistan has now become a stable country in the region following decades of instability and conflict. The remarks were made at an international sports program held in the capital, attended by representatives from Central Asian countries. Muttaqi described the ties between Afghanistan and its neighboring and regional countries as excellent and brotherly. In his speech, Muttaqi said: “We have very good relations with our neighboring and regional countries. Especially with Central Asia, which has always stood by our side in every field. We cooperate with each other in politics, economy, and other sectors, and we move forward like brothers. I hope the future of our country and the region will be very bright.”The senior Afghan official also expressed hope that ongoing tensions in the region would end soon. Regarding the formal recognition of the current Afghan government by regional countries, Muttaqi noted that interactions between Afghanistan and these nations are already official and practical in nature. He added: “It is this very formality that allows us to cooperate in every field — in politics, economy, and even sports. We have made significant progress in this regard. If some countries have not yet formally announced recognition, they may do so one day. But even now, all our relations are official.”This event served not only as a platform for sports and cultural exchange but also highlighted Afghanistan’s efforts to strengthen regional diplomacy and present a positive, constructive image of the country.Afghanistan’s unique geoeconomic position enables it to serve as a vital bridge connecting Central Asia with South and West Asia. Major transit and energy projects, such as the TAPI gas pipeline, remain key priorities in Kabul’s foreign policy.Muttaqi emphasized that the Islamic Emirate’s foreign policy is based on balance, economic centrality, Islamic brotherhood, good neighborliness, mutual respect, and joint cooperation. Central Asian countries hold a special place in this approach.According to recent figures, trade between Afghanistan and Central Asian nations reached approximately $2.7 billion in 2025, showing notable growth compared to previous years. The Afghan government aims to expand this further in the coming years. The Foreign Minister also pointed to shared regional challenges, including border security, counter-narcotics efforts, irregular migration, and organized crime. He stressed that Afghanistan is fully prepared to enhance coordinated cooperation with its northern neighbors to address these issues effectively. He noted that there are currently no significant security problems along the common borders. The presence of Central Asian representatives at the Kabul sports event reflects the depth of practical relations and a mutual desire to expand cooperation across various levels — political, economic, and cultural. The Islamic Emirate believes that internal stability in Afghanistan contributes directly to regional stability as a whole. In concluding his remarks, Muttaqi reiterated Afghanistan’s readiness to broaden collaboration in all areas and painted a picture of a bright and prosperous future for Afghanistan and its neighbors. 23, April 2026 Facebook Twitter Google+ Linked In Pinterest
