Belarusian Foreign Minister States that the Situation in Afghanistan Poses a Grave Threat to CSTO’s Security and Stability
Kabul24: Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergey Aleinik has recently addressed the media, stating that the current situation in Afghanistan is a severe threat to the security and stability of CSTO’s member states. Aleinik emphasized the critical challenge posed by Afghanistan’s situation, particularly due to its shared border with Tajikistan.
In his statement, he further identified several threats, such as terrorism, organized crimes, and drug trafficking.
Belarus is ready to Support CSTO in Ensuring Regional Security
Despite the challenges and threats in the region, Aleinik reaffirmed Belarus’ commitment to help CSTO with outgoings threats and maintaining peace and stability along the southern borders of the organization.
He emphasized that Belarus is determined to support CSTO in fighting the persisting challenges for regional security.
CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting: The Key Focus Areas
The Council of Foreign Ministers of CSTO met on Tuesday in the capital city of Belarus in Minsk. The meeting focused on international and domestic concerns, including the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The situation in Afghanistan was also a major topic of discussion—given the current instability, the Council acknowledged the pressing need to establish peace and stability in the region.
