United Nations: 1023 people died and 516 people went missing in Herat earthquakes.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid (OCHA) has reported the death toll of the Herat earthquakes as 1,23 people and said that 516 people are still missing.

According to Kabul 24; Ocha published a report on Sunday night (16 Mizan) adding that 1,663 more people were injured in this incident. According to Ocha, these statistics were collected from 11 villages in Zindajan district.

The United Nations Office for Humanitarian Aid adds that a total of 11,585 people have been affected by the earthquake in Zindajan, Injil, Golran, Kehsan and Keshk Rabat Sangi districts.

According to Ucha, search and rescue operations are also ongoing.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale and at a depth of 14 kilometers from the ground shook Zindajan district and a number of other districts of Herat around 11:00 am on Saturday.

This earthquake was accompanied by several other aftershocks, which caused an increase in casualties and damages. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Government for Combating Taliban Incidents, the number of dead and injured in this earthquake has reached 2,53.

The ministry announced that more than 1,329 houses were either destroyed or damaged in this earthquake. It is said that ten villages were completely destroyed by this earthquake.

The campaign to collect donations from activists and media organizations has started. Some countries have also promised to help.

A.A. has announced that they have allocated 100 million Afghanis to help and deal with the victims of the earthquake in Herat and have also created and appointed a special commission in this field.

Mirwais Azizi, one of the prominent businessmen of Afghanistan and the owner of two private banks and several commercial companies, has announced that 200 million Afghanis will help the victims of the earthquake in Herat.

Still, the countries of the world and the region have not allocated any aid for the Herat earthquake victims.
