ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack on the Shiite mosque in Pul Khomri

The ISIS group has claimed responsibility for the explosion in the Shiite mosque in the vicinity of Pul Khomri city, the capital of Baghlan province in the northeast of the country.

According to Kabul 24; ISIS published a photo and said that this attack was carried out by a suicide bomber.

In the early morning (Friday, 21 Mizan), an explosion occurred during the Friday prayer at the Imam Zaman Shiite mosque on the first Silavi road of Pul Khomri city, Baghlan center.

Public sources consider this explosion to be a suicide attack and say that the suicide bomber blew himself up at the gate of the mosque.

According to the latest information provided to the media by a source in Baghlan Provincial Hospital, the number of dead has reached 21 and the number of injured has reached 40.

Earlier, another source had announced the number of dead people as seven and the number of wounded as 18 people, and the increase of casualties was likely.

The Baghlan Security Command has also confirmed the death of seven people and the wounding of 15 others.

In the past, the ISIS group had taken responsibility for attacks on mosques and gatherings of the Shia community.

In the last two years, ISIS has carried out several deadly attacks against Shiite religious and educational centers.
