Prominent Afghan cinematographers have expressed their sympathies with Iranian cinema due to the murder of Dariush Mehrjooi, a famous Iranian artist and filmmaker, and his artist wife, and said that “the death of an artist means the silence of the people’s voice, the depression of the collective spirit, and the stagnation of the heart of a society.”
Kabul24: In the message of Afghan cinematographers, it is stated that Dariush Mehrjoui was among the great, committed and scholarly cinematographers in the field of Persian language civilization by recording his works, and his works have motivated and inspired Afghan cinematographers.
Afghan cinematographers have said: “Even though the absence of a great artist like Mr. Mehrjooi cannot be compensated in any way in a society of cinematographers, we believe that the works and creations of this great artist will be a source of inspiration and motivation for committed cinematographers for many years.”
They considered the murder of Mehrjooi and his wife a disaster for the community of cinematographers and hoped that Iran’s legal and judicial institutions would identify the perpetrators of this murder as soon as possible and bring them to justice.
The news of the murder of Dariush Mehrjooi, a prominent Iranian filmmaker, and his wife Vahida Mohammadifar, who was a screenwriter, was reported on Sunday (23 Mizan).
The bodies of these two artists were found in their private villa in Zibadasht town of Farrokhabad district in Fardis district/city of Alborz province of Iran.
Forensic medicine declared the cause of death of these two people as “severe bleeding due to injuries caused by a knife or sharp object”.
Meezan news agency, affiliated to Iran’s judiciary, reported on Monday, quoting Saeed Montazeral Mahdi, the spokesperson of Iran’s police, that seven people were “arrested” on suspicion of being related to the murder case of Dariush Mehrjooi and his wife.
Dariush Mehrjooi was a famous Iranian filmmaker and director, who directed famous films such as “Hamon”, “Daireh Mina”, “Cow”, “Tenants”, “Sara”, “Perry”, “Leila”, “Maman Maman” and “Century”. recorded in his artistic record.
