Kabul 24: This comes as the fifteenth meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, themed Enhancing Unity and Solidarity through Dialogue for Sustainable Development,’ began today (Saturday) in Gambia and is set to continue tomorrow. Among other topics, the situation in Afghanistan will also be discussed.
Suhail Shaheen added, “The participation of the Islamic Emirate’s delegation in international meetings, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, is very important to present the objective realities and needs of Afghanistan on one hand, and to clarify the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s position on issues and their resolution on the other.”
The main focus of the fifteenth meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is said to be the issue of Palestine, with topics such as peace, security, Muslim minorities in non-Islamic countries, and human rights included in the agenda.
Abdul Rashid Qutbzada, an expert on international relations, said: “In the fifty years since this organization was established, it has not been able to resolve any major problems of the Muslim world; therefore, it is not very realistic to expect this meeting to specifically address the issues of Gaza, Afghanistan, or any other Islamic world country.”
Sayed Moqadam Amin, another expert on international relations, said: “If first-hand reports and information are provided to them, they can base their decisions on it and have their decisions be practically applicable.”
On April 20, the deputy prime minister for administrative affairs, Abdul Salam Hanafi, requested during a meeting with Tariq Ali Bakheet, the deputy and special envoy of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for Afghanistan, that representatives of the Islamic Emirate be invited to the meeting in Gambia to hear the opinions and advice of the organization’s officials and convey the current realities of Afghanistan to them; however, there is no news of the presence of any representative from the Islamic Emirate at this meeting.
