Faryab and Sar-e-Pul Provinces Battered by Flash Floods

15 people have lost their lives due to flash floods in the northern provinces of Faryab and Sar-e-Pul, according to local officials.

Kabul 24: The floods have caused significant damage to agricultural land and destroyed dozens of houses in the affected areas.

In Kohistanat district of Sar-e-Pul province, five members of a single family were killed by the floodwaters.

In Faryab province, 10 people were killed and 11 others injured, while dozens of houses and more than 50 acres of agricultural land were destroyed.

The district of Lolash in Faryab province suffered the most severe damage from the floods.

Flood Damage Hampers UN Food Aid Delivery

Local officials have reported that the floods have hindered the delivery of UN food aid to remote areas affected by the disaster.

The World Food Program (WFP) has stated that the floods have destroyed roads and bridges in the affected areas, making it challenging to transport food aid to those in need.

Despite the obstacles, the WFP has managed to provide food aid to 20,000 victims across Afghanistan so far.

The devastating floods have brought immense suffering to the people of Faryab and Sar-e-Pul provinces, with loss of life and widespread destruction of property and infrastructure. As relief efforts continue, the challenges posed by the damaged roads and bridges underscore the urgent need for comprehensive support and assistance to the affected communities.
