Iranian Official Declares War on Illegal Immigrants in Tehran

Mehdi Bab Al-Hawaeji, the deputy governor of Tehran, has issued a stern warning to illegal immigrants in the city of Ray, comparing the government’s efforts to combat their presence to a war.

Kabul 24: In an address to local officials, Bab Al-Hawaeji stated, “Today, confronting illegal immigrants in Ray city is like fighting in a war. It’s like when our children took up arms, came out and were martyred.”

Illegal Immigrants Pose Moral, Social, and Economic Threats

The deputy governor went on to describe the presence of illegal immigrants as a minefield for local families, with moral, social, and economic landmines scattered throughout the community. He emphasized that the threat extends beyond undocumented individuals, as even legal refugees who break laws are considered a danger.

Fines Deemed Insufficient, Officials Urged to Use Additional Powers

Bab Al-Hawaeji made it clear that fining illegal immigrants is not enough to address the issue, and he called on officials to utilize their full range of powers to combat the problem.

He specifically warned real estate consultants and property dealers that they will face prosecution if they provide housing to undocumented immigrants.

Iranian Government Repatriates Hundreds of Afghans Daily

The deputy governor’s statements come amid ongoing efforts by the Iranian government to repatriate hundreds of undocumented Afghan immigrants to their home country every day.

The crackdown on illegal immigration appears to be a priority for the Iranian authorities, who view the presence of undocumented individuals as a significant threat to the country’s social and economic stability.
