Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced that the U.S. will soon provide an additional $2.3 billion in security assistance for Ukraine.
Kabul 24: The aid package will include anti-tank weapons, air defense interceptors, and ammunition for Patriot and other air defense systems.
This announcement comes after a meeting between Austin and Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov at the Pentagon, signaling strong U.S. support for Ukraine’s defense efforts against Russian aggression in the Donetsk region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently stated that Russia has deployed over 800 powerful glide bombs in Ukraine over the past week, urging world leaders to ease restrictions on using Western weapons to target Russian military installations.
The U.S. is expected to make further announcements on providing additional air defense systems to Ukraine at the upcoming NATO summit in Washington, D.C. next week.
This latest $2.3 billion aid package brings the total U.S. security assistance to Ukraine to over $53.5 billion since the start of the Russian invasion in 2022.
