Noor Jalal Jalali, the Acting Minister of Public Health, met with Robert Dixon, the Chargé d’Affaires of the British Embassy to Afghanistan, on Saturday to discuss potential British assistance for Afghanistan’s health sector.
Cooperation Sought in Key Areas
Kabul 24: During the meeting, Jalali highlighted several areas where the IEA is seeking British cooperation:
Treatment of drug addicts
Maternal and child health programs
Attracting international aid to support the health sector
Jalali noted that while many addicts have been treated in the past two years, a large number still require treatment at centers in Kabul and across Afghanistan’s provinces. He emphasized the importance of cooperation from international organizations and appealed for UK assistance.
British Chargé d’Affaires Pledges Continued Support
In response, Robert Dixon, the British Chargé d’Affaires, pledged his country’s continuous cooperation and support for Afghanistan’s health sector. This comes after Britain recently announced its commitment to providing ongoing assistance to Afghanistan’s health system.
The meeting underscores the IEA’s efforts to engage the international community, including the UK, to help address the challenges facing Afghanistan’s healthcare infrastructure and services. As the country continues its recovery, securing foreign aid and expertise will be crucial for improving health outcomes for all Afghans.
