Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, stated they are investigating reports of Pakistani fighter jets patrolling Afghan airspace over Kunar and Nangarhar provinces.
Kabul 24: Mujahid warned that if Afghanistan’s airspace is violated, they will respond seriously.
The Islamic Emirate emphasized that no country has the right to violate Afghanistan’s airspace.
Experts Warn of Ongoing Issues
Some experts believe these incidents will continue until the underlying issues between Kabul and Islamabad are resolved.
Previously, there have also been reports of US drones patrolling Afghan airspace, which drew strong reactions from Islamic Emirate officials.
Pakistan’s Use of Fighter Jets Contrasts with Iran’s Tactics
Unlike Iran, which relies on ballistic missiles and drones, Pakistan has used fighter jets in airstrikes against suspected Pakistani Taliban hideouts in Afghanistan in 2024.
It’s unclear how far the Pakistani jets flew into Afghanistan, but they were used to attack positions Islamabad alleges belonged to the Pakistani Taliban.
The airstrikes were retaliation for the killing of seven Pakistani soldiers in a suicide bomb attack.
