Atmar demanded an impartial investigation about the fall of the republic

Following the verbal debate of former officials and actors, including Amrullah Saleh and Zalmay Khalilzad, about the main causes of the downfall of the republic, Hanif Atmar; The former foreign minister called for an impartial investigation. He asked the “united” countries of Afghanistan to help clarify the causes of the fall.

Kabul 24: Zalmay Khalilzad said earlier that the leaders of the previous government did not know how to fight, nor how to negotiate, nor how to govern. Khalilzad claimed that America was not the cause of the downfall of Ghani’s government.

On Wednesday, in a note that seems to be a response to Khalilzad’s words, Hanif Atmar wrote on X social network that the republican system fell “despite the countless sacrifices of the Afghan people and international friends” and that in order to determine who was guilty, it should be “impartially” be checked

The foreign minister of the previous government emphasized that “such an investigation should investigate the dimensions and internal and external factors of this disaster impartially and with credibility”.

He asked political leaders and former officials to be ready to answer at the national and international level. According to Mr. Atmar, some officials, including himself, “already announced through the media” their readiness to participate in such an impartial process.

This senior official of the former government also asked the allied countries of the former government to welcome this process and cooperate in “realizing the important matter of accountability and justice, in relation to their government officials who were involved in this process.”

Although the discussion of investigating the causes of the fall of the previous government has been raised many times in the last three years, recently Amrullah Saleh, by calling Khalilzad a “fraudster”, “liar” and “impostor”, fueled this discussion again on social networks.

Saleh wrote in his account on X channel: “Khalilzad and the American embassy had a mission to spread and confuse people’s thoughts by funding anti-republican propaganda.”

In a note that seems to be a response to Mr. Saleh’s sharp attack, Khalilzad wrote on Tuesday without referring to a specific person: “The leaders of the republic and their followers blame America and me personally for the loss of their power.”

The former representative of the US for Afghanistan said that the US and its representative were not the cause of the collapse of the republic. He said the Afghan government collapsed because its leaders were “bad at both fighting and negotiating and running the country.
