Ministry of Interior: No Physical Presence of ISIS in Afghanistan

Abdul Matin Qane, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, has stated that terrorist groups — particularly ISIS (Daesh) — have been completely suppressed in the country and currently have no physical presence on Afghan soil.

Kabul 24: He stressed that security forces have fully neutralized this group and no active ISIS elements remain operating inside Afghanistan. These remarks come amid ongoing concerns raised by some countries and international organizations regarding Afghanistan’s security situation and the potential activities of terrorist groups.

Qane noted that in several recent anti-security incidents inside the country, citizens or elements from neighboring countries were involved. According to him, the Ministry of Interior is actively working — in coordination with those neighboring states — to identify and neutralize anti-security elements based outside Afghanistan’s borders.

The spokesperson added: “We are making efforts to hold official meetings and formal discussions with neighboring countries to control and restrain elements that threaten Afghanistan’s security. We have already taken concrete actions in this regard. Several judicial and criminal cases have been targeted, and we have prevented their activities. God willing, such permission will not be granted in the future either.

We are striving, through understanding and cooperation with neighboring countries, to resolve these issues and ensure that their soil is not used against us.”Security analysts and experts also consider coordination between Afghanistan and regional countries on counter-terrorism matters to be critically important.

They argue that no country should allow its territory or citizens to be used as a platform for actions directed against Afghanistan. Experts believe that genuine regional security cooperation benefits not only Afghanistan but also contributes to long-term stability across the wider region.

The Ministry of Interior’s statements coincide with earlier comments by Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister, who confirmed that relevant Tajik authorities remain in direct contact with Afghan security officials concerning border management and control.

The Islamic Emirate has repeatedly emphasized its commitment to preventing Afghan soil from being used to threaten or destabilize neighboring countries.

In return, it expects reciprocal measures: that neighboring states prevent anti-Afghan elements from operating from their territories. This mutual approach reflects a desire to strengthen bilateral and regional security ties under the current circumstances.
