Mujahid: Afghanistan Does Not Interfere in Pakistan’s Internal Affairs

In response to recent developments in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Zabihullah Mujahid, the official spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, stated that issues concerning Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan’s internal political challenges have no connection to Afghanistan.

Kabul 24: Reaffirming Kabul’s broader regional strategy, the interim government spokesperson emphasized that Afghanistan under no circumstances desires insecurity, unrest, or instability anywhere in the region or among neighboring countries. He expressed expectation that the concerned governments and authorities resolve their internal disputes and political differences through reasonable channels, constructive dialogue, and appropriate political means.

Mujahid explicitly rejected speculations or allegations regarding Kabul’s involvement in recent border province events, reiterating that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan maintains a clear policy of non-interference in the domestic affairs of other nations. His statement comes at a time when officials and state media in Islamabad have repeatedly accused Kabul of supporting protest movements or harboring armed opposition groups—allegations that Afghan officials have consistently denied.

The spokesperson emphasized that lasting crisis resolution requires restraint, mutual understanding, and neighboring states’ focus on managing their own internal challenges, noting that Afghanistan prefers to direct its efforts toward internal security, national reconstruction, and balanced economic relations with its neighbors.

Analysis

Zabihullah Mujahid’s statement represents a diplomatic effort by Kabul to distance itself from the escalating political and security crisis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Given Islamabad’s frequent accusations regarding Afghan interference or support for Pashtun protest movements, this official stance serves as a key tool to neutralize political and media pressure from Pakistan. By stressing the principle of “non-interference,” the Islamic Emirate seeks to maintain its fragile formal relations with Islamabad while presenting itself as a neutral and responsible actor committed to regional stability.
