Fitrat: Instability in Pakistan Serves No Benefit to Afghanistan

Officials of the caretaker government of Afghanistan have once again firmly rejected repeated and ongoing accusations by senior Pakistani political and military figures alleging Afghanistan’s involvement in internal security disruptions and cross-border terrorist attacks.

Kabul 24: Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, issued an official statement stating that creating instability, supporting armed groups, or orchestrating insecurity within Pakistani territory is in no way aligned with Afghanistan’s national, economic, or regional interests. According to the Afghan official, whenever Pakistani authorities face challenges and failures in managing their domestic security crises and safeguarding their citizens, they resort to the simplest tactic: deflecting responsibility abroad and blaming Afghanistan.

Highlighting Afghanistan’s current national priorities, Fitrat added that Kabul neither possesses the infrastructure and capability to interfere in the security affairs of its neighbors nor stands to gain anything from such actions. He emphasized that ongoing insecurity in Pakistan directly damages Afghanistan across various human, social, and particularly commercial and transit spheres, ultimately placing regional economic opportunities at risk.

The Deputy Spokesperson further noted that instead of reviewing its internal policies, focusing on core security duties, and addressing root causes of domestic discontent, Islamabad spends a significant portion of its resources and funds on confrontational strategies targeting Afghanistan. Kabul maintains that this misguided approach not only distracts Pakistani security forces from their primary responsibilities but also wastes economic resources, escalates regional instability, and further strains bilateral ties between the two neighbors.

From an analytical perspective, this latest stance highlights a tactical shift in Kabul’s diplomatic rhetoric from a defensive posture to a direct critique of Pakistan’s internal security framework. By identifying Islamabad’s structural failure in containing groups like Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as the root cause of the violence, Afghanistan aims to redirect the accountability. Furthermore, by stressing shared economic and transit vulnerabilities, Kabul underscores that instability across the border poses an immediate threat to its own growth, signaling that prolonged media blame games will only deepen regional instability without addressing the core security breakdown.
