Afghan migrants who have been deported from Iran have spoken out about the mistreatment they faced at the hands of Iranian border forces. The migrants, who were forced to return to Afghanistan, are now calling on the government to provide employment opportunities within the country to prevent further illegal migration.
“We Call on the Government to Provide Employment Opportunities”
Kabul 24: The deported migrants told TOLOnews that if job opportunities were provided within the country, they would never go to Iran illegally. Abdul Mateen, a deportee from Iran, emphasized that the government should provide employment opportunities to prevent further migration.
“We call on the government to provide employment opportunities for people. No one including me will go to Iran,” Abdul Mateen said.
“The Problem in Our Country is the Lack of Employment Opportunities”
Jamshid, another migrant deported from Iran, highlighted the lack of employment opportunities in Afghanistan as the primary reason for illegal migration.
“The problem in our country is that there are not employment opportunities. May Allah help us find a good job no matter if it is a low-paying job,” Jamshid said.
“We Will Not Leave the Country, Even if We Earn $1.60 Per Day”
Hatam, a deportee from Iran, expressed his willingness to stay in Afghanistan if job opportunities are provided.
“We ask the Islamic Emirate to provide employment for us. We will not leave the country, even if we earn 100 Afs (around $1.6) per day,” Hatam said.
Government Assures Migrants of Job Opportunities and Security
Meanwhile, Muhammad Qasim Khalid, the governor of Nimroz, has assured the Afghan migrants of full security and job opportunities. The governor highlighted that major development projects are underway across the country, which will provide thousands of job opportunities for the youth.
“We have assigned a migrants committee on the border with Iran to provide social and health services. We assure the Afghan migrants of full security and that working opportunities will be provided for youth as some major national projects are underway across the country,” the governor said.
