Afghan Red Crescent Society Collaborates with King Salman’s Humanitarian Aid Department to Treat Eye Diseases
Kabul24: Gholam Habib Hassan Hossam, head of public relations of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, held a meeting in Kabul city on June 13 to announce their collaboration with King Salman’s Humanitarian Aid Department through the Basr International Organization in Afghanistan to provide treatment for eye diseases to those in need in Kabul and Kandahar.
The society plans to treat a total of 8,800 patients, with 4,000 patients needing treatment and 400 needing surgery in Kabul, and the remaining patients in Kandahar.
Hossam also mentioned that among the 8,800 patients, 800 are undergoing surgery due to their condition. Eyeglasses and medication will be provided to the remaining patients. Basr International Institute officials stated that their goal is to provide eye disease treatment programs for poor citizens in other parts of Afghanistan, such as
Panjshir, Herat, and remote areas.
Calls for More Support from Aid Agencies
With the increasing number of Afghan citizens suffering from eye diseases, more aid agencies are being called upon to support Afghanistan’s health sector. The Afghan Red Crescent Society aims to collaborate with other organizations and institutions to provide medical assistance to those in need throughout the country.
