China and Pakistan have issued a joint statement following the visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to China, calling on the Islamic Emirate to establish an inclusive government and not allow its territory to be used against other countries.
Kabul 24: The statement emphasizes the need for concerted international efforts to support Afghanistan in addressing humanitarian and economic challenges, while encouraging the interim government to adopt moderate policies and combat terrorism.
Inclusive Government Definition Lacking
Analysts have criticized the joint statement for lacking a clear definition of an inclusive government, suggesting that China and Pakistan are seeking to exert control over the Afghan government.
“China and Pakistan still do not have a clear definition of an inclusive government, and they want a government in Afghanistan that they themselves can control,” said Abdul Wahed Hakimi, an international relations analyst. “An inclusive government does not exist in the world or in these countries themselves. Whatever they say is a pure lie and a form of revenge,” added Aziz Stanikzai, a political analyst.
Islamic Emirate Responds with Silence
The Islamic Emirate has not responded to the joint statement, but it has previously claimed that the interim government in Afghanistan is inclusive. The Emirate has also asked countries not to interfere in Afghanistan’s internal affairs.
International Consensus on Inclusive Government
Several countries have consistently emphasized the need for an inclusive government in Afghanistan. The joint statement from China and Pakistan adds to this chorus, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in supporting Afghanistan’s development and integration into the global community.
