Discovery of Three Valuable Historical Artifacts from the Ahmad Shahi Era in Ahmad Shah Baba’s House in Kandahar

During the ongoing restoration and renovation of the historic house of Ahmad Shah Baba, the founder of modern Afghanistan, in Kandahar city, three significant ancient artifacts dating back to the Ahmad Shahi period (18th century) have been unearthed.

Abdul Shakur Sapand, head of the Art and Culture Department at the Kandahar Directorate of Information and Culture, announced to the media: “During the restoration work on this historic building, three valuable artifacts were found, all belonging to the era of Ahmad Shah Durrani.”

He described the items in detail: a stone plate oil lamp carved from natural stone, a traditional clay lamp, and a metal chain likely used for lighting or decorative purposes.etsy.com

Sapand emphasized that these artifacts will undergo professional cleaning, restoration, and conservation before being added to the small museum within Ahmad Shah Baba’s house.
