The Commission for Contact with Personalities has reported that since its establishment, more than 950 individuals, including former ministers and parliament members, have returned to Afghanistan.
Security Measures for Returnees
Kabul 24: Ahmadullah Wasiq, the commission’s spokesperson, assured that all returnees have received security cards, allowing them to live safely. He stated, “So far, 952 individuals have returned to the country through the Contact Commission and are living peacefully with their friends and relatives.”
Potential for More Returns
Political analysts suggest that the interim government must provide job opportunities and security to encourage more prominent figures to return. Military analyst Mohammad Matin Mohammadkhail emphasized the importance of creating provisions for work and education for returnees’ families.
Establishment of the Commission
The Commission for Contact with Personalities was formed by a decree from the Islamic Emirate’s leader in April 2022, aimed at facilitating the return of political and cultural figures who left during the Republic’s collapse.
