Faisal Shayesta and Five Other Players Boycott the Afghanistan Football Federation

Faisal Shayesta, the captain of the national football team, has declared that he no longer wishes to play for the national team due to corruption within the Afghanistan Football Federation.

Kabul 24: On Tuesday, October 24th, Shayesta alleged on his Facebook page that officials within the Afghan Football Federation are embezzling players’ funds. He claims that most of the players have not received their salaries, yet officials are misappropriating the players’ substantial $30,000 allowances.

In addition to Faisal Shayesta, players Zolfeqar Nazari, Rahmat Akbari, Najm Haidari, Omid Popalzai, and Imran Haidari have also decided not to represent Afghanistan in football any longer.

As of now, the Football Federation has not responded to these allegations.

These players have made this decision at a time when the national football team is set to face Qatar and Kuwait in the second round of the World Cup preliminary matches later this month.
