fined 18 thousand euros for making racist statements against Afghans

A court in Germany has fined Detlef Gort, a former member of the Saxony-Anhalt state parliament and a member of the Christian Democratic Party, 18,000 euros for insulting Afghans.

Kabul 24: At the end of Joza this year, an Afghan citizen killed a compatriot in Berlin with a knife and then attacked the spectators in East Germany during the opening game of Euro 2024, injuring three people. The attacker was also shot dead by the police. Among the reactions, Detlev Gort, the former member of the parliament, also reacted sharply.

After this attack, which brought widespread reactions, Detlef Gort, a former member of the Saxony-Anhalt state parliament, called for the expulsion of Afghans in the Ax social network with harsh and insulting language.

The court of Halle (Zale) issued a verdict and said that this politician must pay a fine of 200 euros every day for the next 90 days. However, Detlef Gort says he has appealed the court’s ruling.

According to German media reports, after the stabbing incident by an Afghan refugee during a soccer match, Gort wrote on his X page: “This soil must be cleared of Afghans.”

He also defended the police shooting at Afghans and stated that “this filth should be removed from Germany.” Although he deleted his post, a prosecutorial investigation was launched after a complaint was filed by Henriette Coward, a member of the Left Party in Parliament. Coward considered these words insulting and incitement to hatred.

This leftist politician condemned Gurt’s reaction and considered the use of the word “dirty” to be an insult to all Afghans.

He said that this term is a form of hatred and contradicts the principles of the German constitution, which supports human dignity and equal rights.

Incitement to hatred is usually punishable by three months in prison, but in certain cases German courts can convert the prison sentence to a fine.

In the last three years, Germany has given asylum to many Afghans, and in some cases, violence and murder have been reported by Afghans in Germany
