Floods in the provinces of Kunar, Badakhshan, and Panjshir have claimed the lives of five people and caused significant financial losses. According to officials, dozens of houses, hundreds of acres of agricultural land, and several bridges and roads have been destroyed as a result of these floods.
The Floods in Kunar Province
Kabul 24: These five people lost their lives in Kunar province. Mohammad Kamgar, the head of the Natural Disasters Management Department in Badakhshan, told kabul 24: “The roads for people’s movement have been completely destroyed, and no village has open access. Overall, extensive damage has occurred to agricultural lands.”
Flood Victims Seeking Assistance
Mahboobullah Hamed, an official of the Omar-Saleth Division, said: “People here are in danger, they should be provided with a place to stay. Today or tomorrow, the next flood might come and take away houses and people.” Meanwhile, some flood-affected people are requesting immediate assistance from the interim government and aid organizations.
Extensive Damage to Homes
“Approximately over eighty or ninety residential houses have been completely destroyed, and about eighty to ninety residential houses have been partially destroyed,” said Tajuddin, head of the Community Council.
This comes as this year, due to devastating floods in parts of the country, especially in Baghlan province, significant financial losses have been inflicted on the people, in addition to human casualties.
