Floods in Bangladesh left 23 dead

The death toll from devastating floods in Bangladesh has risen to 23, with approximately 5.7 million people affected across 11 districts.

Kabul 24: Around 1.24 million families remain stranded, facing urgent needs for food, clean water, and medical supplies, particularly in remote areas where blocked roads hinder relief efforts.

Rescue and Relief Operations

Approximately 470,000 individuals have sought refuge in 3,500 shelters. The army, air force, and navy are assisting in rescue operations, with around 650 medical teams deployed to provide care.

Agricultural Threats and Climate Concerns

Extensive flooding threatens crops, raising concerns about long-term food security. Experts attribute the worsening flood conditions to climate change, highlighting Bangladesh’s vulnerability to such disasters.

Personal Stories of Loss

In Noakhali, Shukuri Begum lost her home and fled with her grandchildren, leaving behind her son with disabilities. “I don’t know what’s waiting for us,” she lamented as she sought safety.
