Herat Intelligence Department is building a settlement for the survivors of the earthquake

The local officials of Herat say that the foundation stone of a 35-family settlement for earthquake victims has been laid in Zindajan district.

Kabul 24: According to Nisar Ahmad Elias, Herat governor’s spokesman, this town is being built in “Nawk” village of Zindajan with the financial assistance of the intelligence department.

He added that this settlement of 35 houses is supposed to be built and put into operation within 45 days.

Earlier, the local authorities had announced the construction of 2,000 houses for earthquake victims in Zindajan.

Also, Khafi Brothers Company in Herat is going to build 100 residential houses for earthquake victims.

Since two weeks, Herat has witnessed several earthquakes.

The first earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale shook Zindajan district and several other districts of Herat on Saturday.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says assessments completed to date show that more than 21,500 homes have been completely destroyed.

According to Ocha, about 154,000 people have been affected by the recent earthquake. Statistics show that more than 2,445 people died and 2,440 were injured after the earthquake in Herat.

Last night, local sources confirmed to Kabul 24 that Ararat witnessed an earthquake.

According to the sources, people left their houses and went outside to the streets.

Local sources say that the earthquake has shaken Herat again. It is said that this earthquake had a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale and its center was in the Karabagh area of ​​Golran district
