Kabul 24: In a statement released on Tuesday, the 7th of November, via X, the commission highlighted that due to this policy, even underage individuals have been forcibly expelled and separated from their families.
The commission stated that despite strong criticism from civil society and international refugee agencies, the government’s insistence on these actions constitutes a violation of international humanitarian laws.
According to the commission, both provincial and federal governments must ensure the respectful treatment of all Afghan citizens and guarantee that children are not separated from their parents under any circumstances.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan has called upon the government of the country to reconsider this “misguided move.”
The expulsion of Afghan refugees from Pakistan has sparked reactions. According to the Ministry of Displaced Persons, more than 300,000 Afghan immigrants have entered the country through Torkham and Spin Boldak in recent weeks.
Pakistan had given over 1.7 million “illegal” immigrants and refugees time until November 1st to leave the country; otherwise, they would face expulsion.
