Kabul – The Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Islamic Emirate has announced that India’s Spices Board, along with leading pharmaceutical companies, has expressed full readiness to jointly invest in and establish modern pharmaceutical and spice production factories in Afghanistan.
kabul 24: The announcement came during a high-level meeting in Kabul between a delegation from the Spices Board of India and Mullah Nooruddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce.
The Indian delegation emphasized their strong interest in expanding bilateral cooperation, significantly increasing exports of high-quality spices and medicines to Afghanistan, and setting up joint manufacturing facilities inside the country.
Key topics discussed included:Import of medicines and pharmaceutical products from India
Improving the quality and standardization of imported spices and drugs
Removing existing trade barriers in the pharmaceutical sector
Creating joint pharmaceutical and spice processing plants in Afghanistan
Minister Azizi welcomed the proposals and assured the delegation that the Islamic Emirate will provide comprehensive support and all necessary facilities to reputable Indian companies willing to invest in Afghanistan’s pharmaceutical and spice production sectors.
As part of the agreement reached:A delegation of Afghan spice and pharmaceutical sector officials will soon visit advanced manufacturing plants in India.
In return, a technical and investment team from India’s Spices Board and pharmaceutical industry will travel to Kabul to assess practical opportunities for establishing factories and finalize joint investment agreements.
Notably, the Spices Board of India represents 57 world-class, internationally certified manufacturing units that export millions of dollars worth of premium spices annually.
This major investment initiative is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs in Afghanistan, significantly reduce the country’s reliance on imported medicines and spices, and potentially position Afghanistan as a regional exporter of processed pharmaceutical and spice products in the near future.
The development marks a significant milestone in Afghanistan–India economic relations.
