Kabul 24: Mujahid further elaborated that China has been making significant efforts to invest in various sectors in Afghanistan, particularly in the economic domain. He emphasized the positive state of the relationship between the two countries.
China’s Role in Afghanistan’s Progress
Sultan Barakat, a university professor in Qatar, acknowledged China’s important role in Afghanistan’s progress. Barakat told Reuters news outlet that China’s words carry more weight in Afghanistan compared to those of other nations.
Cautious Approach Advised
While the relationship between Kabul and Beijing appears to be strengthening, some experts advise a cautious approach. Salim Paigir, a political analyst, cautioned that China’s interest lies more in Afghanistan’s mines rather than the welfare of its people. He suggested that Afghanistan should strive to use this to its advantage.

Mohammad Emal Dostyar, an international relations analyst, highlighted China’s generally soft policy towards Afghanistan. He emphasized that Afghanistan should capitalize on this and that China needs Afghanistan as well.

Since the return to power of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, no country, including China, has officially recognized the interim government. However, China has taken an unprecedented step by accepting Bilal Karimi as the ambassador of the Islamic Emirate in Beijing.
