Israel is investigating the killing of Yahya Senwar

Israeli media reported that the country’s authorities are investigating the possibility of the death of Yahya Sanwar, the new head of Hamas’s political office, in airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

Kabul 24: According to these reports, Yahya Sanwar’s relatively long lack of communication with the outside world has led to the possibility of his death being investigated.

After Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran nearly two months ago, Yahya Sinwar was introduced as his successor as the head of the political office of Hamas.

Yahya Sinwar is mentioned as the main designer of the attack of Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023. He is said to be in the underground tunnels of Hamas in the Gaza Strip after the start of the Gaza war.

There are speculations about the fate of Yahya Senwar while he had a history of long-term absence and lack of communication with the outside world during the Gaza war.

However, after some time, evidence of his communication with the outside world regarding the ceasefire negotiations and other issues of the day was obtained.

According to the report of the Israeli media, no solid evidence has been found yet that Yahya Senwar was killed. Israeli authorities are investigating the possible death of Yahya Senwar, while Shin Bet, Israel’s intelligence and internal security agency, believes that the number one man of Hamas is still alive.

Haaretz newspaper has reported, citing its sources, that in recent months, Israel had targeted the Hamas underground tunnels where Yahya Sinwar was likely to be present.

Over the past year, Israel has killed a large number of Hamas leaders, including Mohammad Zaif and Rafi Salameh, in the Gaza Strip. Saleh Aroori, the deputy leader of Hamas, was also killed in an attack in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.

During the past months, Israel made great efforts to identify the hiding place of Yahya Sanwar and his brother Mohd Sanwar.

Reports were also published in December last year that Yahya Sanwar was killed or injured. At that time, it was also suggested that Yahya Sanwar fled from the Gaza Strip to the Sinai Peninsula.
