Lack of Resources Hinders Search for Missing in Flood-Hit Faryab

Five residents of Belcheragh District in Faryab remain missing due to a lack of advanced equipment for search and rescue operations.

Kabul 24: Local residents have managed to recover more than forty bodies in the past three days using only basic tools.

Ziaul Haq, a resident of Belcheragh District, Faryab, said they rescued four people alive, but they died due to the lack of medical treatment and oxygen.

Devastating Loss for Families

Mohammad Sakhi, a 45-year-old resident of Qurchi village in Belcheragh District, lost twelve family members in the deadly floods three days ago.

With basic tools and the help of local residents, Mohammad Sakhi has recovered the bodies of nine family members, but three others are still missing.

“Twelve people were missing, we recovered nine bodies, and three are still buried under the rubble,” Mohammad Sakhi said.

Calls for Assistance from Government and Aid Organizations

Local Faryab officials acknowledge the challenges faced by the residents of Belcheragh District and are calling for assistance from the central government and aid organizations.

Shamsuddin Mohammadi, Director of Information and Culture of Faryab, said, “We don’t have a lot of resources, but efforts are being made to use whatever we have.”

Three days have passed since the devastating floods hit Qurchi village in Belcheragh District, Faryab, and some families have yet to recover the bodies of their missing loved ones.
