Macron and the Trigger; Penalty in Extra Time!

Emmanuel Macron’s tweet in Persian is not merely a statement of position but a kind of ultimatum: Iran has only a few hours to comply with our legal conditions to halt the snapback mechanism! It’s clear that even before the ink on this statement dries, those few hours will pass, and sanctions against Iran will return.

Kabul 24: But why so aggressive? Why are France, Germany, and the UK so fiercely aligned against Iran? It’s evident that not only a nuclear Iran but also Iran’s current missile capabilities are seen as a threat by seasoned European powers.

Additionally, they are frustrated and disillusioned with Iran’s involvement in the Ukraine war.

Yet, this isn’t the whole story. Europe, and especially France, is dissatisfied and fearful of becoming a second-tier power in today’s rapidly changing world. France and the UK, once global powers, are now sidelined.

Their economies lack the dynamism and burgeoning growth of China and India, and they cannot sustain the modernization of their military budgets. The withdrawal of the U.S. from the global stage and the removal of its long-standing protective umbrella over Europe have left them anxious and disheartened.

In this context, the opportunity of the snapback mechanism is like a windfall penalty kick that effortlessly finds the goal, momentarily making ailing Europe the world’s top scorer!
