The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology has revealed a substantial decrease in internet and domestic call rates, effective from the new calendar year.
Details of the Price Cuts
Kabul 24: Najibullah Bayat Haqqani, the acting minister, announced that the price for one gigabyte of internet will drop to 95 Afghanis, down from 110 Afghanis.
Domestic call rates will also see a reduction, with on-net calls decreasing from 3.50 Afghanis to 1.30 Afghanis per minute, while international calls will be reduced from 4 Afghanis to 1.40 Afghanis per minute14.
Revenue and Infrastructure Developments
Haqqani noted that the ministry’s gross revenue has reached 50.5 billion Afghanis this year. Additionally, Sayed Mansoor Rahimi, General Director of IT Infrastructure, reported the implementation of 13 projects valued at 250 million Afghanis, including security equipment and power systems12.
Expansion of Internet Services
To enhance connectivity, the ministry previously connected 26 provinces to the fiber optic network, aiming to improve internet access across Afghanistan13.
