Mohammad Javad Safari, the goalkeeper of the Afghanistan national futsal team, has joined the Gittipasand Isfahan club in Iran.
Kabul 34: Safari played a key role in Afghanistan’s promotion to the Futsal World Cup, showcasing his talent on the international stage.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper started his futsal career in Afghanistan, before joining immigrant clubs in Iran and eventually earning a spot on the national team.
He has experience playing in the Iranian futsal league, winning championships with Afghan clubs Sadaqt Kabul and Etihad Herat.
Gittipasand Isfahan has retained their current head coach, Mohammad Keshavarz, and signed contracts with most of the team’s main players for the upcoming season.
Safari’s Journey to the National Team
Safari began his futsal career at the Afghan Youth Academy under coach Javad Mohammadi, where he won trophies in the junior age groups.
He then joined Tawheed, an Afghan immigrant club in Iran, where he continued to develop his skills and gain recognition.
In 2016, Safari was selected to join the Afghanistan under-20 national futsal team, making his international debut.
Two years later, he was part of the Afghan national team that reached the runner-up position in the 2019 Asian Futsal Championship.
Safari’s impressive performances for the national team have now earned him a move to the Iranian club Gittipasand Isfahan.
