Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan , confirmed on Sunday, March 15, 2026, that Pakistani forces conducted airstrikes on two locations in Kandahar province the previous night (Saturday, March 14).
Kabul 24: According to Mujahid, one strike damaged a section of a drug rehabilitation and addiction treatment center, while the other targeted an empty shipping container—previously used as a guard post or checkpoint—in another area of the province or city.
He stated that both incidents caused no human casualties, though some structural damage was reported. In a strongly worded statement, Mujahid asserted that these actions by Pakistan constituted a violation of Afghan sovereignty and would not remain without retaliation. He said: “Pakistan bombed two sites last night: part of a drug addiction treatment center and an empty container in another location.
No lives were lost in either case, but Pakistan must know that such aggressions and violations will definitely receive a response.”Local witnesses in Daman district of Kandahar described Pakistani fighter jets striking the addiction treatment facility, which provides care and rehabilitation services for individuals affected by drug dependency. Afghanistan sources shared images showing damage to a wall or section of the building, but emphasized that the site was unoccupied at the time of the attack, ensuring no injuries occurred.
This latest incident is part of an escalating cross-border conflict between Pakistan and the Taliban-led Afghanistan that has intensified since late February 2026. Pakistan maintains that its operations target militant hideouts, technical infrastructure, equipment storage, and tunnels allegedly used by the Afghan Taliban and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to launch attacks into Pakistani territory.
Pakistani officials, including Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, released footage claiming successful strikes on “terrorist” facilities in Kandahar.
The Taliban, however, consistently portrays these incursions as unprovoked aggression against civilian or non-military sites, vowing defensive retaliation while reserving responses primarily for military targets. Mujahid reiterated Afghanistan’s right to self-defense and warned of serious consequences if such strikes continue.
The ongoing hostilities have raised international concerns, with calls for de-escalation and diplomatic engagement amid fears of broader regional instability.
Despite mediation efforts, including from China and others, tensions remain high along the Durand Line border.
