Polio vaccination campaign will start tomorrow in 14 provinces

The polio vaccination campaign is supposed to start tomorrow (Monday, 1st of Scorpio) in fourteen provinces of the country.

According to Kabul 24; According to the announcement published on the “Polio Free Afghanistan” page on X, this campaign will start in the provinces of Takhar, Kunduz, Baghlan, Nuristan, Kunar, Laghman, Kapisa, Kabul, Parwan, Nangarhar, Khost, Paktia, Paktika and Ghazni. .

In this declaration, the residents of these provinces are asked to vaccinate all children under five years of age so that the polio disease disappears from Afghanistan.

This year, four positive cases of polio have been registered in the country, all of them in Nangarhar province.

Currently, Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only countries in the world where polio has not reached zero.

Every year, various campaigns to fight polio and polio vaccine against this disease are launched across the country.

Polio, also called polio, is an infectious disease that can cause paralysis and even death.

Especially in young children, this virus can cause permanent paralysis.

This virus is often spread by contaminated water. So far, there is no cure for this disease.

Polio vaccination campaigns are being held in Afghanistan while there are also positive cases of polio in this country. According to reports, two polio cases were recorded last year and four polio cases in 2021.

This figure shows a significant decrease compared to 2020 with 56 positive cases.
