Raqib Farooqi, the renowned Afghan athlete, widely recognized as the “Afghan Iceman,” announced his triumphant ascent of Damavand Peak, Iran’s tallest mountain on Monday, October 23.
Kabul 24: Farooqi proudly declared, “I have successfully climbed Damavand Mount, which stands as Iran’s highest peak, soaring to a height of 5,610 meters.”
He further elaborated, “This peak not only boasts tremendous altitude but also represents one of the most challenging summits in all of Iran.”
It is noteworthy that this accomplished Afghan athlete, along with a group of fellow Afghan immigrant mountaineers residing in Iran, scaled the renowned Iranian peak, Saka, just last week. Their mission was to extend support and aid to the victims of the recent earthquake in Herat.
Farooqi stressed the urgent need for support and assistance for the earthquake-stricken people in Herat, underscoring the dire circumstances they currently endure.
Farooqi, affectionately known as the “Afghan Iceman,” hails from the province of Ghor and has organized numerous exhibitions in various provinces across the country.
