Shahbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, said in the cabinet meeting that the central government of this country has managed to reduce the smuggling of some goods from Pakistan to Afghanistan to zero.
Shahbaz Sharif added that this work was done with the help of Pakistan Army.
Kabul 24: The Prime Minister of Pakistan has also said: “Smuggling between common borders has ended with the help of the army. I want to tell you that the issue of smuggling that was raised by Afghanistan, you should control it with your ability and power. Everything will change.”
At the same time, the Chamber of Commerce and Investment has said that since the barbed wire border strip was established, goods have not been smuggled from inside the country to outside or from outside to inside the country.
Khanjan Alkozi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said: “Barbed wire was installed during Ashraf Ghani’s time. Since then, smuggling has been stopped; But during the republic, smuggling was done through customs.”
Sharif added that the central government has been able to overcome various internal and external challenges with the support of the army.
Afghanistan, as one of the main destinations for Pakistan’s trade goods, faces frequent border crossing closures due to border tensions and political problems.
This issue has fueled the increase in smuggling of Pakistani goods in recent years.
Late last year, the government of Pakistan announced that it would impose more restrictions on its border crossings with Afghanistan in order to combat smuggling.
This decision has been taken to improve Afghanistan’s transit trade tracking system, and it seems to have positive results.
Some businessmen consider the prevention of smuggling of goods from inside to outside and from outside to inside the country important in improving business activities.
The closure of the crossings between Pakistan and Afghanistan, especially the Torkham border, was considered one of the main reasons for the increase in the smuggling of Pakistani goods to Afghanistan in the past years
