Afghan security officials in Badakhshan province report that the border forces of Tajikistan arrested a 25-year-old man on the charge of “hashish” drug trafficking. He died after jumping into the river to escape.

Kabul 24: Ehsanullah Kamgar, the spokesman of Badakhshan security command, said on Sunday, April 28, that the incident happened in Shighnan district of this province. According to him, this young man, who is a resident of Takhar province, had a shop in the common market on the border of Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

Search for Body Underway

The spokesman of the security command added that efforts are ongoing to find the body of the deceased, which has not yet been found.Recent Tensions Along the Border

This incident follows the shooting by Tajik border forces of at least seven Afghan citizens who entered Tajikistan illegally in April this year. This shooting happened after these people passed through the frontier village of No Abad, Chah Ab district, Takhar province.
