The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement following the call, which noted that the acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan expressed hope that bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Kabul would expand further in various fields.
This sentiment was echoed by Wahid Faqiri, an international relations expert, who stated that both the Taliban and the Iranians are currently trying to cooperate and avoid plotting and hostility against each other.
Afghan People to Decide Cooperation
Faqiri added that the people of Afghanistan are the main decision-makers in their country’s cooperation with neighboring and regional countries. They will not allow outside players, who have a history of destructive interventions and are responsible for current issues, to interfere in their relations.

Recently, Tehran hosted a meeting of the Moscow Format Regional Contact Group on Afghanistan, where key issues concerning Afghanistan, the third Doha meeting, and other topics were discussed.
