The death toll from the earthquake in Herat reached 30

Local authorities in Herat say that the death toll from the earthquake in this province has reached30.

According to Kabul 24; Moussa Ash’ari, the Disaster Management Department has also announced 300 people. Some sources estimate the death toll to be higher, however, the number of victims is likely to rise.

Earlier, Herat governor’s office claimed the lives of 25 people, including eight children. According to reports, today’s landslides have left the most casualties and damages in Zindajan district of Herat.

The first earthquake occurred around 11:00 AM today with a magnitude of 6.3 at a depth of 10 kilometers in Zindajan district of Herat.

The United States Seismological Center has recorded several relatively strong aftershocks with magnitudes of 5.5, 6.3, 4.7 and 4.9.

The last aftershock occurred at 2:14 PM with a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale. This earthquake also left damages in Herat city.

Among the received images, it shows that the tiles of the Herat Grand Mosque are damaged.

Official sources have not said anything about the damage done to this historical mosque.

It is said that these earthquakes have also left damages in Farah and Badghis provinces adjacent to Herat.

But the exact statistics of casualties and damages are not available.

The images released this morning from the affected areas show that the residents spent the night under tents in the open air.

On the other hand, it shows videos of the rescue of people trapped under the rubble.
