The Ministry of Migration demanded a high-level meeting with the United Nations and Pakistan

The Ministry of Refugees and Returnees has formally requested a tripartite meeting with the United Nations and Pakistan to address the challenges faced by Afghan refugees.

Kabul 24: Spokesman Abdul Mutalib Haqqani stated that the meeting will aim to tackle issues affecting Afghan immigrants in Pakistan, including potential solutions and support for those wishing to return voluntarily to Afghanistan.

Response from Pakistan

Pakistani media report that the government is considering this request. A UN official emphasized the importance of such discussions for refugee rights.

Challenges Faced by Refugees

Afghan refugees in Pakistan have raised concerns about threats of deportation and inadequate support from international organizations. Activist Asifeh Stanekzai highlighted the need for a long-term strategy to address these issues, while refugees like Atiqullah Mansoor detailed their fears and challenges.

Future Prospects

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN expressed hope for the return of 1.5 million registered Afghan refugees with UN support, underscoring the urgency of addressing these humanitarian concerns.
